Building Outward Greatness: Staying Courageous by Staying Curious

Greatness is not measured by what a man or woman accomplishes, but by the opposition he or she has overcome to reach his goals. Dorothy Height

One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.
Maya Angelou

My favourite words are possibilities, opportunities and curiosity. I think if you are curious, you create opportunities, and then if you open the doors, you create possibilities.

Mario Testino

The development of greatness in any endeavor demands courage and curiosity.  A hungry curiosity for the world around us, especially when it comes to our profession, cannot be ignored if we desire to stand out from the crowd.

The moment our curiosity and passion diminishes for any pursuit, the less courage we will demonstrate toward its attainment.

Have you become discouraged due to setbacks, delays, and others obstacles? Everybody who reaches for greatness has and will experience disappointment.  However, you must refuse to give up on your dreams of achieving greatness within your life, business, and affairs.

Life demands that you stay courageous and curious. Your success in life depends on boldly pushing forward for several reasons.

A matter of Reputation

A good  image in life is everything. Your reputation as a responsible and productive citizen in the community should be something to strive for.  Do you want to live a low quality of life? You will if you don’t strive for greatness.  Millions end up in poverty because they are not curious or courageous enough to challenge life head on.

A matter of Livelihood

A great life thrives off of curiosity and then courage.  The strong desire to know what is possible produces courage to discover the reality of a situation.  Therefore, a livelihood without courage is a product of shame and weakness.

Many people allow their dreams to pass them by due to the obstacles and difficulties that must be conquered along the way.  But our livelihood is at stake if we don’t make a quality decision to reach for our greatness.

The thrill of discovery

Discovery opens doors to new knowledge and wisdom that we would have never known had not we gone the extra miles.  Our curiosity drives us to find new answers and new insights into old theories and experimentations.

Due to the dangers involved, great discoveries require courage.  Moving into the unknown is filled with many fears and anxieties.  However, the great discoveries of the world couldn’t have occurred without people who were willing to risk life and limb.

Discovering electricity, flying the first Airplane, creating the first automobile and going to the moon and landing on it all were discoveries based on curiosity and courage.

Excitement of Newness

The newness derived from our discoveries gives us a renewed sense of excitement about life.  We like getting up out of bed in the morning and going to work. We also begin to see others in a different light. Instead of seeing people as nuisances we see possibilities of great potential in every person, regardless of race or culture.

The Tragedy of Untapped Greatness

A life without courage and curiosity is a product of deadness and damnation.  People who refuse to embrace these two qualities, (millions have already refused), die with untapped greatness. They rob the world of innovations and spectaculars.

Therefore, in order to make an incredible difference in this world, become curious about as many things as possible.  Muster the courage to explore your curiosities. The more courageous you are in traveling to places where others refuse to go, the more you unlease the greatness within you and the more you stand out from the crowd.
