A highly popular and contagious social network service, Twitter was founded on March 21, 2006, by Jack Dorsey and associates. With 100 million participants posting more than 300 million daily tweets, the social medial network employs around 3, 898 people. Recent calculations suggest that active Twitter users number more than 319 million.

I have been a member of Twitter for nearly 9 years. I may not Tweet as much as others, but I enjoy reading the intriguing tweets of others. Messages are limited to 140 characters. Because of such limitations, a single person can tweet an unlimited number of messages a day.

As a popular social network, I would give Twitter a 10 out of 10

Pros:

  • Post and participate in discussions
  • Send Accelerated information
  • Share news about services, and events
  • Drive traffic to your blog or website
  • Promote awareness of your brand

Cons:

  • Posting limitations

Accessibility of Service

Registered users can access their Twitter account via Desk top, mobile phone, laptops, and SMS etc. Look around you and discover the avid Twitter. People Tweet in libraries, classrooms, on bus rides, while walking down the street, sitting at the kitchen table, relaxing on the toilet, and before going to bed at night. Twitter users are everywhere.

Type of Users

The popular social network and news site are for people who like sending and reading short messages throughout the day. Young, old, children, adults, entrepreneurs, politicians, church leaders, sports stars, and presidents.

Twitter Social Network Features

  • Immediate and fast messages
  • Hashtag usage for topics
  • Allows short URL linking to blog post
  • Video streaming of sports events

The characteristics of the popular social network allow users to get messages and new stories out far more sooner than most major news networks.

Superior Service Quality

Using Twitter isn’t confusing or difficult at all. Potential users only have to register, create a profile and start tweeting. As a member of the tweeter, I have never experienced a quality problem with the social network. The interface is obvious and easy to use. Just tweet.

In addition, if you desire to introduce a product or service via the social network, all you have to do is follow the easy introductions for creating a campaign.

Strong Brand Name Image

The highly acknowledged usage of Twitter by the current president has further popularized the social network to the point that the brand is mentioned daily. Unless an individual is a monk or extremely secluded, he or she has heard of the social media site.

Companies with strong brand name images are most likely to attractive many new customers via the world of mouth or through high visibility.

Ranking in its field relative to the competition

Although the popular site has millions of followers which post billions of tweets each year, its biggest rival still happens to be Facebook, a dominant social network site which allows users to do much more than writing and sending short messages.

Facebook allows its users to post longer content, share videos, photos, go live, participate in instant messaging, and much more.

However, Twitter will always thrive due to its allowance of short, sweet messages on a constant basis. Immediate gratification is what the big “T” offers. Because of the busyness of society, sending short messages appear to be the ideal form of communication.

My Final Opinion of Twitter

If you don’t have a Twitter account, you might be missing out on a lot of fun. Tweeting is one of the quickest ways of getting information to those who are important to your existence, including family, co-workers, friends, and neighbors.

In emergencies, Twitter can be a godsend due to the speed of the message.
